Highland senior Charles Beanblossom delivered a solid performance in the shot put to lead the Trojans at the Indian Open indoor track meet against a large regional field.
The meet was held March 7, 2026, at Portage Indoor in Portage, Indiana, on a 200-meter flat track featuring athletes from schools across Northwest Indiana.
Beanblossom placed 23rd overall in the shot put with a throw of 37 feet, ¾ inch (11.29 meters), competing in Flight 8 of the event. His mark represented Highland’s top result at the meet and provided an encouraging early benchmark for the indoor season. Facing a deep field of experienced throwers, the senior maintained consistency throughout competition to secure a top-25 finish.
The performance highlights Highland’s strength in the throwing events and gives the Trojans momentum moving forward into the remainder of the indoor schedule. Strong early-season marks often serve as building blocks as athletes refine technique and prepare for the transition to outdoor competition later in the spring.
Highland will continue its indoor campaign at upcoming meets in the region, with athletes aiming to improve personal bests and strengthen qualifying positions for championship events as the season progresses.
