Brady Boyd collected three hits in a 23-8 men’s varsity baseball rout for the Highland Varsity Trojans 2026 over the Hammond Central Varsity Wolves on Friday.
After Highland built an early 5-0 lead through two innings on RBI doubles by Aaron McCormack and Nate Phillips, Hammond Central erupted for seven runs in the bottom of the second to seize a 7-5 lead. Juan Magallanes did the heavy lifting with a three-run triple. Adrian Tiscareno’s RBI single in the fourth bumped the Wolves’ edge to 8-7.
That’s where Highland’s bats took over. The Trojans answered with a seven-run fifth — capped by Caleb Downs’s RBI triple — to grab a 15-8 lead, then tacked on six more in the seventh to put it away.
Phillips paced the offense, going 4-for-6 with four RBIs from the No. 3 spot. Boyd, McCormack, Cash Washick, Logan Finch, and Alex Tishey each chipped in multiple hits as Highland piled up 21 base knocks and swiped 13 bases.
David Klapkowski earned the win in relief, tossing four scoreless innings of three-hit ball with five strikeouts. Elijah Lewis took the loss for Hammond Central. Magallanes led the Wolves with three RBIs.
