Highland boys wrestling turned in a solid postseason showing at the IHSAA Boys Wrestling Regional at Hobart.
The regional tournament took place Feb. 7 at Hobart High School as Highland competed in the Class A2 field against top regional qualifiers.
Highland finished the event with 23 team points, highlighted by a runner-up finish at 150 pounds. Landen Garrison led the Trojans with a second-place showing, advancing to the championship bout after a pair of strong wins. Garrison opened the tournament with a first-period fall in the quarterfinals before earning a major decision in the semifinals to secure his spot in the title match. He capped the day with a narrow decision loss in the finals, earning 17 team points and a podium finish.
Simon Martinez also contributed to Highland’s scoring with a fourth-place finish at 138 pounds. Martinez opened the day with a decision win in the quarterfinals before dropping close matches in the semifinals and third-place bout, accounting for six team points. His performance added valuable depth to Highland’s regional effort.
Leo Velasco (113), Gavin Wilson (132), and Kaeleb Mortimer (144) also represented Highland at the regional level. While they did not place, each wrestler gained postseason experience against a competitive field.
Highland’s performance at the Hobart Regional reflected continued postseason progress, with multiple wrestlers advancing deep into the bracket and earning placement points against strong competition.
