Highland boys basketball dropped a 58-44 decision to Andrean in a conference matchup, as the Fighting 59ers used a strong second half to pull away.
The game was played Jan. 24 at Highland High School.
Andrean built a 31-22 halftime lead and extended its advantage with a 9-0 run to open the fourth quarter. Highland showed signs of life in the third period, outscoring Andrean 13-9 behind improved ball movement and perimeter looks, but the Trojans were unable to sustain that momentum as Andrean closed the game with an 18-point final quarter.
Justin Slaven led Highland with 21 points, connecting on nine field goals and adding seven rebounds and three assists. Cameron Katz chipped in eight points and four rebounds, while Jake Slaven and Brady Boyd each added six points. Defensively, the Trojans recorded four blocks and five steals, with Slaven and Katz helping protect the paint and disrupt passing lanes.
Highland battled on the boards, collecting 19 defensive rebounds and six offensive rebounds, but struggled to find consistent scoring in the fourth quarter as Andrean controlled tempo and limited second-chance opportunities.
Up next, Highland will host Boone Grove on Feb. 10 at 7 p.m.
The last time the Trojans faced Boone Grove, Highland earned a 55-52 road victory on Feb. 11.
