Highland Boys Defeat Lowell, 42–35

Highland earned a road conference victory, defeating Lowell 42–35 in a defensive battle.

The game was played Jan. 10 at Lowell High School in Lowell, Indiana.

After trailing at halftime, Highland outscored the Red Devils 28–11 in the second half to pull away. The Trojans held Lowell to just four points in the third quarter and seven in the fourth, using disciplined half-court defense and strong rebounding to take control. Junior Justin Slaven led all scorers with 28 points, shooting 11-of-15 from the field and adding seven rebounds. Sophomore Cameron Katz added 13 points on efficient shooting, while Highland converted timely free throws down the stretch to seal the win. The Trojans finished shooting 44 percent from the floor and forced 12 turnovers, limiting Lowell’s ability to generate clean looks in the half court.

Defensively, Highland rotated well and contested shots throughout the second half, recording five steals and two blocks while holding the Red Devils to 35 percent shooting. The Trojans’ ability to control tempo and close out defensive possessions proved decisive as they maintained the lead in the final minutes.

Up next, Highland will travel to face Lake Station Edison at 7 p.m. on Jan. 23 in a conference matchup.

The two teams last met Jan. 24, when Highland defeated Lake Station Edison 63–54 at home.
