The Highland Trojans boys soccer team endured a difficult outing Tuesday, falling 6–0 to Hammond Bishop in non-conference play. The defeat dropped Highland to 1–2 on the season as the Trojans look to bounce back after opening the year with a win.
Hammond Bishop struck quickly, taking a 3–0 lead into halftime with sharp ball movement and efficient finishing. The pressure carried into the second half, where the Braves added three more goals to put the match out of reach. Highland goalkeeper Liam Ramirez faced constant traffic but kept the scoreline from growing even wider with several strong saves.
The Trojans had a few bright moments in transition, particularly when senior forward Adrian Sanchez created counterattacking chances, but each push was halted by Hammond Bishop’s organized defense. Despite the lopsided score, head coach Mike Novak pointed to the team’s effort and the need to improve defensive shape and ball control in the midfield.
Highland now turns its focus to Thursday’s home matchup with Kankakee Valley, aiming to reset, regroup, and secure a stronger result in front of the home crowd.
