Highland falls at Thornton Fractional South, 63–49

Highland suffered a 63–49 loss to Thornton Fractional South in a varsity boys basketball nonconference matchup.

The game took place Jan. 6, 2026, at Thornton Fractional South High School in Lansing, Illinois.

Highland remained within striking distance through the opening half but was unable to overcome consistent scoring from the Red Wolves in each quarter. Thornton Fractional South built a steady advantage early and maintained control after halftime, matching Highland’s output to prevent any sustained comeback attempt. Highland showed energy late but could not close the gap in the final minutes.

Justin Slaven led Highland with a team-high 17 points while also contributing nine rebounds and four assists. Cameron Katz added 12 points, providing additional scoring from the perimeter. Jakob Burelson finished with seven points on efficient shooting, while Louis Stewart contributed six. Brady Boyd and D. Varvaris each added three points as Highland totaled 49 points on 18 made field goals.

Highland will look to bounce back when it travels to face Munster on Jan. 15 for a 7 p.m. conference matchup.

The last meeting between Highland and Munster came Jan. 16, when Highland dropped a 63–31 decision at home.
