Highland girls basketball earned a convincing 52-34 conference victory over Munster, using strong defense and balanced scoring to pull away and secure the win.
The game was played Jan. 27 at Highland High School.
The Trojans set the tone early, holding Munster to just eight points in the first quarter and two in the second to build a 28-10 halftime lead. Highland continued to control the pace with active hands on defense and consistent rebounding, limiting second-chance opportunities and forcing tough shots throughout the night. Although Munster showed some momentum in the fourth quarter, Highland responded with a 20-point final period to close out the game.
Jordan Steele led the Trojans with 22 points, eight rebounds, three assists and four steals, providing steady production on both ends of the floor. S. Ballard added 11 points and six rebounds, while A. Figueroa contributed nine points, seven boards and strong perimeter defense. Avery Steele chipped in five rebounds and four assists, and Gioia Feaster added energy off the bench with five points and five rebounds.
Defensively, Highland recorded 16 steals and limited Munster to single-digit scoring in two of the four quarters. The Trojans also controlled the glass with 36 total rebounds, allowing them to dictate tempo and finish possessions.
The complete team effort reflected Highland’s depth and discipline, as the Trojans executed on both ends and closed the game with confidence in front of their home crowd.
