Highland earned a home conference victory, defeating Hobart 36–31 in a tightly contested, low-scoring matchup.

The game was played Jan. 9 at Highland High School in Highland, Indiana.

The Trojans used strong second-quarter defense to take control, outscoring Hobart 14–6 in the period after trailing 12–7 at the end of the first. Highland continued to apply pressure in the half court, holding the Brickies to just five points in the fourth quarter to preserve the five-point win. Senior Jordan Steele led all scorers with 22 points, adding 12 rebounds, five steals and three assists while converting key free throws late. Sophomore Avery Steele contributed 10 points and 10 rebounds, giving the Trojans a steady presence on the glass.

Highland’s defense forced 16 turnovers and recorded 13 steals, disrupting Hobart’s offensive rhythm and limiting second-chance opportunities. The Trojans also won the rebounding battle, 31–21, allowing them to control tempo and close out the game with disciplined possessions in the final minutes.

Up next, Highland will travel to face Gary West Side at 7 p.m. on Jan. 24 in a conference matchup.

The two teams last met Feb. 4, when Highland defeated Gary West Side 44–22 at home.
