Highland High School’s girls wrestling team achieved a third-place finish while hosting the NCC Girls Holiday Throwdown and Tiaras, with several wrestlers reaching the podium in the conference competition.
The tournament took place on December 20 at Highland High School. According to event results, Highland produced two individual champions. Melody Vazquez and Aleks Bastaic each secured first place in their respective brackets, leading the team’s overall performance. Isabella Robledo, Kennedy Stephens, and Bianca Lomeli followed with second-place finishes, contributing significant points toward the team’s total.
Sammi Ralph added a third-place finish, while Angelina Lawrence placed fourth. Journey Bellamy and Madison Bouchard each finished fifth as Highland placed competitors throughout the lineup. The depth of podium finishes helped the host program secure third place in the final team standings.
The next competition for Highland will be at the Indiana High School Athletic Association (IHSAA) Regional on January 9 at 2 p.m. in Goshen.
