Highland High School’s girls wrestling team achieved a third-place finish at the NCC Girls Holiday Throwdown and Tiaras tournament, which they hosted during the regular season.
The event took place on December 20 at Highland High School, featuring eight conference teams competing throughout the day. Highland accumulated 166.5 team points, trailing behind Hobart and Munster. The host team delivered multiple podium finishes across various weight classes. Melody Vazquez and Aleks Bastaic each secured individual championships to lead their program. Isabella Robledo, Kennedy Stephens, and Bianca Lomeli earned second-place finishes, while Sammi Ralph placed third. Angelina Lawrence followed with a fourth-place result, and Journey Bellamy and Madison Bouchard each achieved fifth-place finishes. These collective results enabled Highland to distinguish itself from the middle of the field and secure a top-three team standing.
According to reports, the performance underscored both top-end success and lineup depth as Highland continues its preparation for postseason competition.
Highland is set to compete in the Indiana High School Athletic Association (IHSAA) Regional on January 9 at 2 p.m. in Goshen.
