The Highland High School varsity girls volleyball team dropped another non-conference match Saturday, falling 0–2 at home to Wheeler. The Trojans kept things competitive early, tallying a tight 25–22 first set, but Wheeler pulled away with a 25-19 victory in set two.
Highland fought to find rhythm but struggled to counter Wheeler’s consistent offense. The Bearcats’ control at the net and sharp serving stretched the Trojans thin, especially in the back row. Though lacking standout stat sheets, Highland’s effort remained evident in longer rallies and several eye-catching digs that pushed each set deeper.
Now standing at 1–5 on the season, Highland heads into their first conference test of the year, facing Lowell Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. Coaches say the focus this week will be on tightening serve-receive formations and sharpening attack coordination. With league play around the corner, the Trojans are eager to regroup and translate better ball control into offensive opportunities. A strong bounce-back against Lowell could reset the tone for the season and inject much-needed confidence into Highland’s lineup.
