Highland broke open a tight game with a five-run fifth inning, pulling away from Lowell for an 8-2 win in a conference baseball matchup.
The game took place April 6 at Lowell High School, where Highland relied on timely hitting and steady execution to take control late.
Highland carried a narrow lead into the middle innings before Lowell tied the game in the fourth, shifting momentum briefly. The Trojans responded immediately in the fifth inning, scoring five runs to regain control and create separation. They added two more runs in the sixth, extending the lead and limiting any chance of a Lowell comeback.
The offense combined disciplined at-bats with consistent pressure, producing runs in key moments and capitalizing on scoring opportunities. Highland’s ability to respond after Lowell’s rally proved to be a turning point in the game.
Nate Phillips led the offense with a 2-for-4 performance that included a double, a triple, and an RBI while scoring twice. Brady Boyd added a 1-for-3 effort with a sacrifice bunt and clean defensive play. Brent Woltzen and Jake Slaven each contributed by scoring two runs and helping maintain pressure throughout the lineup.
On the mound, Highland pitchers limited Lowell to two runs and maintained control during key stretches. Defensively, the team supported that effort with consistent play and reliable execution across the field.
