Highland High School showcased its ability to overwhelm opponents, rolling to a 14–0 win over Hammond Morton in a girls varsity softball non‑conference game.
The Trojans made their presence felt from the opening inning during Monday’s road game on April 6, setting the tone with early scoring and never letting up.
The Lady Trojans controlled the game from the start, scoring three runs in the first inning and piling on six more in the fifth to secure the run-rule victory. Highland was flawless. Jazmine DeJesus anchored the field with 13 putouts and a perfect 1.000 fielding percentage, part of a team total of 15 clean chances.
The offense was relentless, with Highland hitters combining for 15 hits and 12 RBI. Speed on the bases also played a role, as the Trojans stole 7 bases led by Addison Barajas. Evie Rivera went a perfect 3-for-3 with four runs scored and three RBI. While Isabella Alvarez matched her impact with four hits and four RBI. Jordan Steele chipped in two hits and two RBI.
Highland High School will welcome Hebron today, April 10, for a non-conference game at 5 p.m.
The Lady Trojans and Hebron Hawks are set to meet again nearly a year after their last matchup, a game Highland won decisively on April 11, 2025, by a 20–2 margin.
