Highland boys wrestling earned a fourth-place team finish at the IHSAA Boys Wrestling Sectional totaling 136.5 points.
The sectional tournament took place Jan. 31 at Portage High School, where Highland advanced multiple wrestlers into championship and consolation rounds while competing against a deep and balanced field. Despite several forfeits at upper weight classes, the Trojans remained competitive throughout the day and finished fourth overall through consistent individual performances.
Highland crowned one sectional champion, as Landen Garrison captured first place at 150 pounds after a strong run through the bracket. Josue Ahmad added a runner-up finish at 126, and Simon Martinez placed second at 138 to provide critical team points. Leo Velasco earned a third-place finish at 113, while Gavin Wilson placed third at 132 to keep Highland in the team standings race.
Additional scoring came from Kaeleb Mortimer, who finished fourth at 144, and Tyler Bishop, who placed fourth at 157. Brian Holmquist added a sixth-place finish at 120, and Robert Baker placed sixth at 285. Those placements helped offset forfeits and allowed Highland to remain among the top teams in the sectional.
