Junior Benjamin Flick is entering the season with aspirations to build on his previous strong postseason performance, which included securing a conference title and advancing to the semi-state level.
Flick said that last winter’s achievements have bolstered his confidence for a deeper run this year. “I feel pretty good… won conference, obviously made the semi-state,” he said. According to Flick, having strong practice partners contributed significantly to his progress, and he noted that the training environment is even more challenging this season. “I had good partners last year, and now this year I have multiple good partners,” he added, attributing his improved pace and consistency to internal competition.
Flick’s objectives for the year are clear and ambitious as he aims for a state berth. “I hope to make it down state, hopefully make a good run… one win, get to top eight, and keep going,” Flick said. He also expressed personal motivation behind his drive for improvement: “My parents — doing it for them and for everyone who’s supported me through everything,” he said.
With valuable postseason experience already under his belt and strong depth throughout Highland’s upper lineup, Flick enters the season as a key contender poised to take the next step.
