Highland’s boys wrestling team placed sixth overall at the Northwest Crossroads Conference Championships, highlighted by two runner-up finishes and multiple podium performances across the lineup.
The conference tournament was held Saturday, Jan. 17, at Lowell High School, bringing together teams from across the Northwest Crossroads Conference to compete for individual titles and team points.
Benjamin Flick led the Trojans with a second-place finish at 120 pounds, while Landen Garrison also earned a runner-up showing at 150. Gavin Wilson placed third at 132, and Simon Martinez followed with a third-place finish at 138. Kaeleb Mortimer added a fourth-place performance at 144, and Mahmoud Abidallah took fifth at 285 to contribute to the team total.
Additional scoring came from Tyler Bishop, who finished sixth at 157, along with a sixth-place result at 175. Highland recorded forfeits at 106, 113, 126, 165, 190 and 215. The Trojans totaled 90 team points to secure sixth place in the final team standings.
Up next, Highland will compete in the IHSAA Sectional on Jan. 31 at Portage High School, with wrestling scheduled to begin at 8 a.m.
