Highland Trojans defeat Illiana Christian Vikings 55–27 at home

The Highland Trojans girls basketball team secured a decisive 55–27 victory against the Illiana Christian Vikings in a non-conference game. The match was held on December 6 at Highland High School.

According to reports, the Trojans took control early in the game, limiting their opponents to just nine points in the first half. Seniors Jordan Steele, Payton Bailey, and Lily Gonzalez led the scoring effort for Highland. Steele’s performance was notable for her effective shooting from both the perimeter and inside the lane.

Highland widened their lead significantly in the third quarter by scoring 23 points. Contributions came from sophomore A. Figueroa, junior S. Ballard, sophomore Madison Kustka, freshman Gioia Feaster, and sophomore Avery Steele. Their combined efforts in scoring, rebounding, and defensive play restricted the Vikings’ opportunities.

Looking ahead, Highland is set to host Michigan City on December 20 at 7 p.m. In their last encounter with Michigan City on December 21 of last season, Highland narrowly lost with a score of 52–49.
