The Highland Trojans were blanked by the Hanover Central Wildcats 10-0 in varsity baseball in a game took place on Monday, April 20, at Highland High School.
The Trojans managed only two hits all afternoon and were never able to mount a serious threat at the plate against Hanover Central’s pitching. Cash Wasnick took the loss after working three and two-thirds innings, surrendering four runs on four hits while walking seven and striking out four. Joe Stephan and the relief corps faced similar troubles as the Wildcats drew 15 walks and scored in bunches, including a five-run fifth inning that put the game out of reach.
Highland’s defense was solid, committing no errors throughout the contest. Kirk Dapshis led the Trojans with seven plays in the field, while Brady Boyd and Nate Phillips each collected one of the team’s two hits. Despite the shutout, the Trojans showed defensive resilience but could not overcome the offensive struggles or the free passes issued by their pitching staff.
