Head coach Ben Geffert attributes the success of Highland’s high school football program to its robust youth football system. He emphasizes the importance of continuity and talent development that starts from a young age.
According to Geffert, “We had all programs from U-6 through middle school join us for a big practice. The coaches are doing a great job. There’s accountability, and the kids are executing at a high level.” He notes that the relationship with Pop Warner coaches has strengthened in recent years, saying, “They’re developing players the right way. If kids are out there enjoying the game and building Trojan pride, that’s what matters most.”
Geffert highlights that this youth pipeline ensures players understand the culture before reaching varsity level. “They come in already familiar with our standards,” he said. This connection provides stability for Highland as it relies on underclassmen this fall. “Those kids are ready to contribute because they’ve been taught well from the start,” Geffert added.
By integrating every level of football within the community, Highland aims to achieve sustained growth and success. Geffert expressed optimism about the future, stating, “It’s exciting to see how bright the future looks.”
