Returners Provide Stability for Trojans

Highland head coach Ben Geffert has expressed confidence in the team’s roster for the upcoming season, highlighting the contributions of several key returning players.

“We have Landon Garrison, who started both ways for us as a freshman. He’s done a lot of great things,” Geffert said. He also mentioned lineman Jordan Thomas, linebacker Josh Salas, cornerback Mark Dale, and receiver-punter Dave Phillips as important veterans who bring experience to the team.

According to Geffert, while these seasoned players provide stability, Highland will also depend on new starters, particularly on the line. The coach noted that these players have shown dedication through their offseason efforts. “I can’t say enough about our offensive line,” he said. “The growth they’ve had in the weight room this past year is showing on the field.”

Geffert emphasized that the blend of experienced returners and eager underclassmen is fostering healthy competition during practice sessions. “They’re responding well, and they’re pushing each other,” he said.

As Highland prepares for a challenging schedule, this combination of stability and fresh energy could be crucial in navigating the season while developing long-term depth within the team.
