Highland competed at the Hoosier State Relays Finals, showcasing its top athletes against elite competition in a statewide indoor championship setting.
The meet took place March 28 at the Fall Creek Pavilion inside the Indiana State Fairgrounds in Indianapolis, featuring a fast banked 200-meter track.
Highland’s performance was highlighted by junior Kennedy Stephens, who delivered one of the team’s strongest all-around efforts. In the 60-meter preliminaries, Stephens posted a time of 7.81 seconds, placing ninth overall and narrowly missing qualification for the finals. Her performance carried into the field events, where she excelled in the long jump.
Competing in Flight 2, Stephens recorded a mark of 17 feet, 10.25 inches, earning a fourth-place finish and contributing valuable points. She delivered multiple consistent attempts, maintaining strong form against a competitive field and staying near the top of the standings throughout the event.
Junior Aniya Sole added another key performance in the hurdles, placing 10th in the 60-meter hurdle preliminaries with a time of 9.19 seconds. Her run showed clean technique and steady pacing in a race that featured some of the top competitors in the state.
Together, Stephens and Sole led Highland’s presence at the meet, contributing across sprint and field events. The performances reflected the team’s ability to compete at a high level and produce results against strong statewide competition.
