Trojans seek progress after 19-13 softball season

Highland’s varsity softball team enters the upcoming season looking to build on a 19-13 campaign in 2025, when the Trojans finished 3-9 in Northwest Crossroads Conference play and placed sixth in the league standings.

The season took place during the spring of 2025 in Highland, Indiana, where the Trojans compiled a 9-6 record at home, 8-6 on the road, and 2-1 at neutral sites.

Highland showcased a powerful offense, scoring 259 runs while allowing 181. The Trojans opened the year with dominant wins over Hammond Morton (15-0), Merrillville (20-0), and Hebron (20-2), and later added decisive victories against Whiting (17-1), Hammond Central (17-1), and Boone Grove (12-0). In conference play, Highland earned victories over Hobart and Kankakee Valley, including a narrow 9-8 decision at home and a 4-3 road win. The team also produced strong nonconference results, highlighted by an 18-3 win over Twin Lakes and an 11-10 victory against Chesterton.

Late in the season, the Trojans advanced in tournament play with wins over Griffith (11-0) and Hammond Bishop Noll (9-4) before their postseason run ended with a 5-1 loss to Hanover Central.

Highland is scheduled to open the 2026 season on the road against Hammond Morton on March 28 at 10 a.m., looking to improve its conference standing and make a deeper postseason push.
